So there was a 2020 before the Coronavirus. Not much of one, and it was kind of a strange, not so hot start to the year for a number of reasons - but now we have a whole new bar for weirdness…
Before this all hit I had decided on a new series of working waterfront images, all 16x20, all acrylic, most on board…. The idea was to really synthesize the painterly energy I’d been working to expand with my oil painting and acrylic experiments, with a more considered, collection approach to the actual paintings.
So far so good, although I have surprised myself with how obsessed i’ve gotten with some of the detailing… Not in a negative way I don't think, it feels fun and rewarding vs, uncomfortably obsessive - but it makes me wonder what comes next even as I am only 4 paintings into 12 or so….
So as I try to savor these pieces, and let them evolve as they need to - I’ll also enjoy dreaming of what’s next.
